The Essence Team is passionate about body work and wellness. They strive to obtain harmony and balance in every client's daily life. They believe that the flow from massage, yoga, and pilates can help obtain that balance in our bodies.
Owner & Massage Therapist
Owner, Darleen Cole, lives in Brighton with her husband and daughter. A Colorado native, graduated from the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado in 2008. While at MTIC, she excelled in massage therapy as a healing art and master the technique of relaxation, as well as the ability to treat patients experiencing stress, pain, and muscular-skeletal imbalances. In addition to 9 years experience in massage she has more than 15 years in business and client services. Her signature massage combines techniques from a variety of modalities to help achieve the best results for my clients.
I have been helping others in their quest for healthier and more positive lifestyle choices for more than 15 years. I am certified through ACE, AFAA and SCW. My yoga training is through LifePower and I am a 200-hour certified yoga teacher. I enjoy teaching various formats. Vinyasa flow is one of my favorites to teach. I enjoy getting to know my students and helping them use yoga to improve their lives, reduce stress, and gain flexibility by balancing their mind and body through breath and movement. I like being able to be out in the beautiful Colorado outdoors.
Hi, my name is Dawn Swartzendruber. I am a Colorado native and currently live in Westminster. I graduated from Heritage College in March of 2006 with an Associates of Occupational Studies Degree in Therapeutic Massage. I believe everyone can benefit from massage therapy and that it is not just a luxury. The benefits of massage are a plenty. My mission is to help people feel amazing!
When I am not doing massage I am helping people on the nutrition side of things. I am a Wellness coach/Fitt coach with RightFitt.
I am also a mother of 3 and a wife. I enjoy family time, meditation, reading, working out, yoga, being silly and loving life! I am so excited to be joining Essence of Movement I look forward to working with you.
A serious injury at the age of 20 led Sierra to yoga. At the time, she was a dancer and a dance instructor, with an extensive background in movement theory and technique. In 2006, she fell while performing with the World Championship Drum Corps during their 50th Anniversary Tour. She fractured her hip and underwent surgery. The doctor held out little promise for a full recovery, and told her she’d never dance again.
The hip injury interrupted her coursework but she eventually completed a BS degree in Kinesiology at Indiana University. In the program she learned a great deal about how bodies work. More than ever, she was determined to find a way to make my body move and dance like it once had.
Armed with all the patience she could muster and a boatload of modifications, she began the practice of yoga. Over time, she started to move more easily and with less pain. Hugely impressed by the ability of yoga to retrain the body, she committed to studying this ancient practice and to bring the benefits to others.
While in grad school for an MFA in Dance, she found a teaching studio that specialized in yoga with modifications. She completed her yoga instructor certification at that studio and in 2016, filled with passion and invaluable personal experience, she moved to Denver, CO and began her career as a yoga instructor.
Sierra is living proof that yoga is truly for everyone. The trick is to find the yoga that’s right for you. That’s where she come in. She’d love the opportunity to help you move more easily, experience less pain, and feel the profound sense of well-being that comes with the practice of yoga.
My name is Janell Martinez. I have lived in Colorado, all my life and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I have been practicing yoga for about four years and teaching it for over a year now. Interestingly enough, it took a physical injury to turn me to yoga in the first place. Once I began to practice yoga on a regular basis I started to heal not only physically but mentally and spiritually as well. I am a teacher at heart, and knew that I wanted to share with others what I have learned about myself through yoga. We are all stronger than we know, we all have the ability to control the thoughts we have and propel ourselves further than we thought possible. I love to encourage others to find strength within
themselves through a physically and mentally challenging yoga practice.
